KELLOGG MIDDLE SCHOOL | Portland OR

Kellogg Middle School is a newly constructed Middle School which replaced a closed down historic school in Southeast Portland. Early design studies were completed to see if the existing school could be retrofitted and provide the programming for the projected number of students to be educated at the school. It was decided that it was more economical, safer to build a new school. The outdoor spaces include a large central plaza adjacent to the student union with radial seat benches, artificial turf lawn around the plaza a fibonacci cacti mural and rings of inlaid quotes to inspire students. There is also a student learning garden, a large plaza at the entrance, a covered basketball court, soccer field and a softball diamond.
